The UC Berkeley Art Museum and Pacific Film Archive is the visual arts center of the University of California, Berkeley. Through art and film programs, collections and research resources, the museum aspires to be locally connected and globally relevant, engaging audiences from the campus, community, and beyond.
The new facility will integrate a repurposed building—the former UC Berkeley printing plant at the corner of Oxford and Center Streets—with a dynamic new structure. The building has a flexible space to engage the public to experience diverse art, film, performance and educational programs and to access the extensive collection and archives.
The Pacific Film Archive library, archives, screening room and 230-seat film theater will be housed in a new building on a portion of the site. The project is targeting a LEED Silver certification.
