The initial project included a medical office building, cancer center and parking garage that were completed in 2009. Also planned for the site are a medical office building with 99 offices, six outpatient operating rooms and seven outpatient procedure rooms. The first of the new medical office buildings—a $156 million, 165,000-square-foot structure—opened in May 2009. It sits across Broadway from the 650,000-square-foot, 12-story inpatient tower, along with a 229,000-square-foot specialty medical office building and central utilities plant. A 1,219-space parking garage was also completed. The new 12-story, 349-bed Kaiser Permanente Oakland Medical Center opened in 2014. The California Office of Statewide Health Planning and Development provided an estimated cost of construction figure of $450 million.
