Golf Club Road Bridge in Pleasant Hill was originally constructed in 1953 and widened in 1969. Caltrans engineers gave the old bridge a sufficiency rating of 7.0 (range of 1 to 100). This rating identified the bridge as structurally deficient and an ideal candidate for replacement. The replacement bridge provides four 11 foot traffic lanes with adjacent 5 foot shoulders and 5 foot sidewalks on both sides, including a 12 foot landscape median island. The horizontal alignment remains the same, but the vertical alignment was raised approximately 3 feet (center of mid-span) to accommodate 100 year storm events. Grayson Creek had overflowed in 2005, flooding approximately 80 homes and causing $2M to $3M in damages. The new bridge is a two span, cast in place slab. Golf Club Road provides access to Diablo Valley College.
